Hope Lutheran Church is happy to partner with Friendswood Methodist Church to offer Upward Basketball.

Cheerleading is offered at Friendswood Methodist Church.

Cheer practice will be at Friendswood Methodist Church.

Cheerleaders will cheer for Saturday games at Friendswood Methodist Church.

 

We usually open registration in September and practices begin in December. Our 8 week game season runs in January and February.

Upward has created a new online registration system designed to greatly reduce Upward League administrative work, but will require a few changes in the registration process for parents. Please review the registration process and league overview information below before proceeding to register.

 

Registration Process

Coach links will not be available. We will have many good coaches for your child. Only Assistant Coaches will be linked to Coaches when creating teams.

 

The system has capability to honor only (1) car pool link. Both parents requesting a carpool link must input the other child’s first and last names in the carpool link. If you have a true need for more than (2) people in a carpool, you must email the request to a League Director – as these requests will have to be manually honored when creating teams.

 

You can pay for your registration on-line with a credit card or with cash / check at either church’s office or evaluation.

 

Kindergarten Basketball League Overview

The Kindergarten Basketball League is (1) hour per week, total, on Friday evenings only, between 6-8pm. When games start these players will practice for about half the hour and have intros/game for about half the hour.

 

There will be 8 players per team playing 4 on 4, each player will play at least half of each game.

 

This league is limited to 96 players; registration will be closed and a waiting list started at that number.

 

Grades 1 - 8 Basketball League Overview

Teams will practice (1) hour per week.

Games will be (1) hour on Saturdays in January & February
Grades 1 – 4 will have 8 players per team max, playing 4 on 4 (each player will play at least half of each game)
Grades 5 – 8 will have 10 players per team max, playing 5 on 5 (each player will play at least half of each game)

September 1, 2023 - Online registration opens

September 30, 2023 - Last day for early registration

November 26, 2023 - Last Day to register

November 16 & November 30, 2023 - Evaluations at Friendswood Methodist Church, 6-8pm

December 11, 2023 - Week practices are scheduled to begin if all coaches are in place

January 12 & 13, 2024 - First games 

March 1 & 2, 2024  - Last games

 

 

Basketball Practices and Games  

**All PreK 4 - Kindergarten practices/games will be held on Friday nights at Hope Lutheran Church.

**1st & 2nd grade practices and games will be held at Hope Lutheran Church

Practices are held on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday nights. Games are on Saturday mornings.

 

**Third grade and up will have practices and games at Friendswood Methodist Church.

Practices are held Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday nights.
